Institute of Education & Examination Management Pvt. Ltd. is a recruitment organization that organizes recruitment drives and conducts examinations on behalf of institutes and enterprises where examination is a key part of selection process. IEEM offers turnkey services, encompassing the full spectrum of activities associated with recruitment and examination, ensuring that full attention is given to the client’s needs and that no is compromise is ever made when it comes to confidentiality and security of the project.
Challenge
IEEM conducts examination on a large scale and for a brief moment of time, when an examination is underway, its servers are likely to be running at full capacities.
- Hosts that could provide bare metals with private lines were scarce
- Secure ISP lines were needed to keep the exam going
- Backup lines could not be provided
- Exceptionally high uptime was required
Solution Delivered
Cyfuture kept note of a few key things while deciding what specifications could handle these intermittent spikes in usage.
Committed Servers
The application and database need to have committed servers, one for each.
Shared Lines
Shared network lines could jeopardize security of the network and could be broken into.
Database Servers
A database server would need to be coupled with a replication server for replication of instances stored in the database, but doing so shall come at added cost.
Based on IEEM’s requirements, Cyfuture estimated that 4 application server and 1 DB server should be sufficient, however each server shall have at least 40 cores and 64 GB RAM. A separate 100 Mbps dedicated lease line was provisioned with 1000E firewall, with NAS (network area
storage) capabilities. SSDs in RAID 1 were additionally configured for faster response time compared to hard drives, which tend to be clumsy and at times slow.
Backups were created for the database on NAS and Veeam for all servers.
Outcome
IEEEM has successfully conducted numerous examinations since moving to Cyfuture’s datacenters. Some of its notable clients for which IEEEM has relied on Cyfuture’s infrastructure are –
- Office of the district judges Howrah, Cooch Behar and Medinipur
- City Civil Court of Calcutta
The company has since strengthened its relationship with its clients and reached unachieved pinnacles of success.
