How to Create New Forums

When you wish to create a new forum for the PhpBB board users there are some steps to follow. Since the power to do this task is available in the Administrator Control Panel only, it means that only those with access to this panel can create new forums. A forum can be broadly defined as a container which can be the birthplace for new topics and their replies.

Steps to start a new forum in PhpBB 3.0:

– To do this you must first log in to the ACP panel and click on the “Forums” tab there. You can then view the management screen for forums and here, you will find a place to enter the name of the new forum that you have in mind. As you click on “Create New Forum” option, you are brought to the settings page. As you build a new forum, you have to customize many settings options. When you are not confident about settings, you need not worry as you can always edit them later on.

– You will then need to choose a forum type from the categories offered. When you choose the “Forum” option, you will be asked to type in the name of the Parent Forum. You can get unlimited sub-folders within every new forum. You will then need to establish permissions for the forum thus selected before it becomes active. Besides the forum name, there must be a brief description about its purpose and you need to give the path for including an image. This image is not compulsory. But you must ideally include a password to protect the forum. This needs to be typed in at this stage, and you will be asked to re-confirm it too.

– When you have configured the new forum thus, you can then scroll down and click on the “Submit” link for saving it with the settings. Then your forum starts to show in the list under the appropriate category. It is possible to view it also from your main screen as you click on its parent category.
