How to create SQL Server Database?
Creating a SQL Server Database is easy and simple with using a Graphical User Interface program like the ‘SQL Server Management’. With this program you do not require to groping around with the command line.
This article teaches you to create a SQL Server Database with three easy and simple steps:
Step 1: Creating Your Database- A database is nothing but a vessel which is located in a SQL Server. It contains a flock of related stuffs. Database is the container in the server where important data are been stored along with the structure or the table about how that data is saved. At first, let’s create the database using a popular Graphical User Interface named ‘SQL Server Management Studio’.
At first, you should select “Microsoft SQL Server” from Windows start menu and then the ‘SQL Server Management Studio’. Start ‘SQL Server Management Studio’ and then right click the database folder and select a new database. It is recommended that you should enter a name in the ‘Database name’ text box.
Once you named the database, a Logical Name for the kind of files and Log will automatically get filled. The file named ‘Data’ is the storage place where the original data is been saved on the hard drive. The file named ‘Log’ maintains tracking of the changes happened to the data. Then you should click ‘OK’.
Step 2: Creating a Table- Once the Database is formed, we require the structure to grip the authentic data. The structure is the ‘Table’ here. The format of the table will be like a spreadsheet and it should contain rows and columns in it. You can expand the newly formatted ‘Test’ database to expand the database folder and to form the table.
To select the New Table, you should right click on the ‘Tables’. Then you shall be asked to fill in the ‘Data Type’ and the ‘Column Name’. Remember, a column in a Database should know that what kind of data it will be storing. This don’t happen in a spread sheet or an excel sheet. Once it is done, you may save the ‘Table’ by clicking the icon given there in the top menu bar. It will surely ask for the ‘Table Name’ then you can go ahead of naming it and can finally click on the ‘OK’ button given there.
Step 3: Data Entering and Viewing- If you want to enter data into the newly formatted ‘Table’ then you just need to stretch the ‘Tables’ folders from the left menu as it should have given there.
Once the newly created ‘Table’ is listed, then you should right click and select ‘Open Table’. You can see that a small network will open; there you need to enter few data lines. These data will be automatically saved and stored for the future usage. If you move into another line your data will also automatically get saved without saving it manually.
