The Apache web server is a popular and widely used application that is highly compatible for a wide range of operating systems including Windows. In layman’s terms, this is an open-source software which is capable of running in different operating systems without fuss. However, you need to follow certain steps while intending to install the Apache web server on your Windows PC. The following are the steps that help you install this software without hassles:
Step 1: Go to the Apache website and click the Apache HTTPD Web Server download button.
Step 2: Once downloading is over, save the file on the desktop.
Step 3: Double or right click the saved msi file displayed on your Windows desktop.
Step 4: An installation wizard in the name of “Apache HTTP Server 2.2” will pop up and you will find three buttons “Back“, “Next” and “Cancel“. All you need is to click the “Next” button.
Step 5: Afterwards, click the button where it is mentioned “I accept the terms in the license agreement” and then click the “Next” button.
Step 6: The installation wizard then indicates you to click the “Next” button.
Step 7: Next the installation wizard will appear with boxes where you need to share your information. These boxes will ask for the following information:
- Network Domain: localhost
- Server Name: localhost
- Administrator’s Email Address: your email address
Step 8: Then select the “for All Users, on Port 80, as a Device-Recommended” mentioned on the installation wizard and then click the “Next” button.
Step 9: Subsequently, click the “Custom” button and then click the “Next” button.
Step 10: Select “Apache HTTP Server” on the installation wizard and then click the “Change” button.
Step 11: Then you can see installation of all the packages and scripts in the path is underway.
Step 12: Once it is over, you need to click “OK” button and then click the “Next” button.
Step 13: After that all you need to do is to click the “Install” button to initiate the installation process.
Step 14: On completion of installation, the installation wizard will pop up mentioning that your installation completed. All you need is to click the “Finish” button to make your attempt successful.
