In FileZilla, how can the number of simultaneous connections to a server be restricted?

FileZilla is configured by default to transfer more than five files at a time. This means, every time a transfer is made, the application initiates more than five simultaneous connections to a given server. In case one is hosted on a shared server and they are trying to transfer more than one file, the server firewall might block the user’s IP address. This is mainly due to the creation of too many simultaneous connections from a single address.

Here is an easy solution to reduce total simultaneous connections and transfers in FileZilla.

Open the application and click on ‘Edit’. Now select ‘Settings’ and click on ‘Transfers’. Over here, one can notice a field which is labelled as Maximum simultaneous transfers. Change the value of this field to and then click on ‘OK’. Your settings will get automatically saved.

In order to reduce total number of simultaneous connections, go to ‘application’. Now select ‘File’ and then click on ‘Site Manager’. Over here, select the desired website. Thereafter, go to the ‘Transfer Settings’ tab. Here, check the box next to ‘Limit number of simultaneous connections’. Now set the ‘Maximum number of connections’ to 1. Lastly, click on ‘OK’ to save the desired changes made.
